Jennifer Hudson dazzles at the Premier of Aretha Franklin Movie

The actress, 39, sparkled at the Los Angeles premiere of the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect on Sunday night, floating down the red carpet in a custom purple sequined Dolce and Gabbana gown that featured a thigh-high slit and long train.

Respect is directed by Liesl Tommy and also stars Forest Whitaker as Aretha’s father, Marlon Wayans as Aretha’s first husband Ted White, Mary J. Blige as singer Dinah Washington, and Gilbert Glenn Brown as Martin Luther King Jr. It will be released in theaters on Aug. 13.
