Stars Hit The Purple Carpet For ‘The Color Purple’ Los Angeles World Premiere

The Color Purple cast Brought their A game on the "PURPLE CARPET" at the World premiere Wednesday at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.


What makes this movie so special is that it is a remake of the The original motion picture premiered in 1985, starring Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover, Margaret Avery and more.


The 2023 remake of  The Color Purple is an adaptation of the Alice Walker novel and the Broadway musical it inspired — directed by Blitz Bazawule. Warner Bros. Pictures has described the anticipated film as a “bold new take on the beloved classic” about “the extraordinary sisterhood of three women who share one unbreakable bond.”


The 2023 remake of  The Color Purple stars: Taraji P. Henson, who plays Thug Avery, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi as young Celie, Ciara as adult Nettie, H.E.R, Corey Hawkins, Colman Domingo, Deon Cole, and more walked the carpet, as well as producer Scott Sanders.


Plus, other notable celebrities, such as Quinta Brunson, Steven Spielberg, Quincy Jones and Tyler Perry were in attendance.


Fashion and Style Stars really embraced the Purple spirit on the "PURPLE CARPET" Tyler Perry wore a Purple suit. Oprah Winfrey also had on a purple dress of course. Henson, styled by Wayman and Micah, hit the carpet in a purple LaPointe dress from the Resort 2024 collection; Brooks, styled by Jennifer Austin, opted for a more subtle Proenza Schouler matching set with glitzy peep-toe platforms; Fantasia Barrino, styled by Daniel Hawkins, wore a Grecian-inspired Christian Siriano she was draped on polk-a-dots but had on beaming purple eye shawdow. The RNB singer HER had on a Purple elegant princess flowy dress.



The Color Purple musical film is set for a Christmas Day release this year. “I think that this is a movie that people will celebrate with their families. But I think women in particular will be healed from this movie and its portrayal of sisterhood,” expressed Winfrey to ESSENCE.
