SUPER BOWL SOULFUL CELEBRATION HOSTS 25TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW


The Super Bowl Soulful Celebration brought together legendary singers and football players to celebrate their faith and their love of the sport.


Launched in 1999 during Super Bowl XXXIII, The Super Bowl Soulful Celebration formerly known as the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, has shared light and inspiration with the Super Bowl for the past 25 years. The event kicked off and was tapped in Las Vegas, at the Pearl Theater in the Palms Casino Resort.

This year The Super Bowl Soulful Celebration 25th Anniversary was hosted by Executive Producer, Director, Actor, Comedian, and Novelis Cedric “The Entertainer,” and Award-winning actress and singer Tichina Arnold. Feature performances were by T-Pain, Rachel Platten Mickey Guyton, Earth, Wind & Fire, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Robin Thicke, and The Players Choir. The special will air February 10, the day before the big game, on CBS.

The Super Bowl Soulful Celebration 25th Anniversary was executive produced by Melanie Few, with Valarie Benning Thompson as producer. I had a chance to interview, Valarie Benning Thompson. She expressed, that The Super Bowl Soul Celebration was an event where people of all walks of life could come and be uplifted, while also honoring and recognizing the NFL players who were an inspiration on and off the field. People of faith, media, sports, philanthropy, and business who were all using their gifts and talents to make major contributions to society would also be recognized.

Over the last 25 years, the annual NFL-sanctioned program has welcomed performers such as Snoop Dogg, Pharrell Williams, Fantasia and Gladys Knight.
